Pampering Campers
Baker Beach Campground is a small, year-round campground with trail access to Lily Lake, beach and sand dunes.
The, very sensitive, snowy plover nesting habitat area is nearby. Sandy trails will give you and your horse a rigorous
workout and great opportunities for wildlife and scenic views.
Setting:
The campground is in a treed area just over the dunes from the
Pacific Ocean. 17 miles of trails take you through sand dunes,
shallow streams and coastal vegetation.
Facility:
There are 4 developed campsites, each with a picnic table and fire pit.
The parking areas are large enough to accommodate horse trailers. A
vault toilet is provided and cared for by the Forest Service
concessionaire. No garbage service is available.
Camping and Trail Tips:
- Bring your own potable water. A stream is nearby for the horses.
- Campfires are allowed in the fire pits. Bring your own firewood and make sure it is dead out before leaving the
site or retiring to your tent.
- Stay away from the designated snowy plover nesting habitat from March - September. If humans or animals get
too close, they will leave the nest, leaving their eggs or young vulnerable to predators.
- Please pack out your garbage. Burning garbage or leaving it in the campgrounds attracts critters that you or
your horse may not like the next time you arrive (mice, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, bears).
Campground Features:
This campground has plenty of room for horse trailers to
turn around. See Map. There is no Host on site. A self-pay
fee station is next to the restroom. Pay your fee, and
display your receipt on your dashboard, before you hit the
trail. This Forest Service campground does honor the
Federal Senior and Access discount passes for 50% off
camping fees (not Day Use parking).
