Rocky Point Campground lies on the shore of the beautiful Lake Almanor in northern California. Nestled among the tall
sugar and ponderosa pine trees and in the shadow of Mt. Lassen, the views are breathtaking.  The campground is on
the south end of this great fishing lake, on Hwy 89 between Prattville and Canyon Dam.
Moor your boat on the beach right in front of your
campsite! A free boat launch is within a couple
miles of the campground. Free boat trailer parking
is available along the county road within the
campground. Come prepared for camping in bear
country; store food out of sight and smell in your
car. Many wild birds can be viewed in the
campground; including osprey, eagles and
hummingbirds, as well as pileated and white headed
160 developed campsites provide plenty of space for campers from
tents to large RV’s. Many of the campsites are lake front.
Campsites range from full sun to mostly shaded and each has a
picnic table and fire ring. 8 sites are accessible for persons with
disabilities and have a raised cooking grill in the site. Piped drinking
water, vault toilets and an RV sewer dump station are available in
the campground. No showers are available in the campground.
Camping Tips:
Reservations are not available for individual sites. Group reservations (5 site
minimum), however, may be available during May and June. The group sites are
in the overflow areas only. The best choice, of first-come-first-served campsites,
is available on Sunday through Wednesday. An additional fee is charged for each
pet. ATV’s must be trailered in the campground at all times. Campfires are
allowed in the fire rings and firewood is available for purchase from the manager.
Bicycles are allowed in the campground and helmets must be worn by children
under 18. Skates, scooters and skateboards are not allowed in the campground
but may be used on the adjacent bike\walking trail. The trail is paved and about
14 miles long.
Getting there:   Go west on Hwy 36 out of
Susanville through Chester. Then turn south on 89
and go about 10 miles to the campground entrance.
