Pampering Campers
TILLICUM BEACH CAMPGROUND
Tillicum Beach Campground provides beautiful ocean views and the soothing sounds of waves from almost every
campsite. This year-round campground has access to the beautiful sandy beach. Many campers come in December and
January for whale and storm watching. With just the right storms, the agate beds are uncovered!
Setting:
This beautiful central Oregon Coast campground is in the Siuslaw National
Forest and is open year-round. The campground sits, on a cliff, approximately
30 feet above the sandy beach which is accessible by stairway. The grassy
campsites provide a relaxing and romantic setting for watching shore birds, sea
lions, whales, commercial crabbers and sunsets. Just minutes to the south are
the tiny resort town of Yachats and the incredible trail system at Cape
Perpetua. Waldport, a quaint port town, is just 3.5 miles to the north and
provides access to crabbing, fishing and boating on the Alsea Bay.
Facility:
59 developed campsites, including 7 with 30 amp, electric, and water hookups,
provide plenty of room for campers from tents to large RV’s. 20 to 40 campsites,
including the hookup sites, are available throughout the winter months.
Campsites range from full sun to full shade and each have a picnic table and fire
ring. Campsites range from back in to pull through and ocean-front to just ocean-
view. Modern restrooms are accessible for persons with disabilities. A separate
Day Use area provides parking and tables for picnicking and beach combing.
Camping Tips:
Camping and parking fees are posted and must be paid in advance.
Some campsites are reservable, during the summer, through
www.recreation.gov. (Search for "Tillicum", not "Tillicum Beach" to
reserve.) Campfires are allowed in the fire rings and firewood is
available for purchase from the manager. The closest RV dump and
showers are in Waldport. Fish in the surf or go to Waldport to launch
your boat at the public boat launch or fish\crab off the public dock.
Campground Features:
Tillicum Beach Campground is open year-round. The Area Manager and a
Campground Host care for the facility. Two stairways provide beach access. You can
walk for miles on the long stretch of sandy beach during normal tides. The
campground contains many of the trees and shrubs typical of the Oregon Coast.
Flush toilets, but no showers, are provided. Campers may pay for a shower about a
mile north at Oceanside State Park or Waldport.
Workamping at Tillicum Beach Campground:
Campground Hosts and the Area Managers are located close to the entrance
in the full hookup sites. The views are hard to beat as you do your daily tasks.
Area Managers care for Tillicum and other campgrounds along Hwy 101, to
Florence, and 27 miles up the Alsea Hwy. Contact: American Land & Leisure
for more info on workamping in this and other USDA Forest Service
campgrounds in Oregon.
